Australian Federal Police (AFP) is the federal police department of the Commonwealth of Australia. The Department was created in the year 1979 by amalgamating three Commonwealth Law enforcement agencies. The role of AFP is to enforce Commonwealth laws both criminal and civil laws to protect the interest of Australia nationally and internationally.
